In this video:
Nik Farooqui from S2 Strategic Defense discusses the Slide Lock Reload aka Out of Battery Reload and how to make them faster through dryfire training.
First, Nik will go thru what a slide lock reload is and how to get a reload quickly along with a few tips. The slide lock reload occurs when a firearm goes in to a dry/empty magazine condition and the slide locks open which indicates that it is an empty magazine and requires a new magazine.
Nik also briefly points some slide lock reload statistics that applies to competition shooting and self defense, along with some general statistics from the FBI records. The video then takes us through 3 different mindsets in training the slide lock reload, each of which look alike but have different focuses.
The first mindset is "Slow" Method. This allows the user to perform the slide lock reload in a very slow but concise manner and helps us develop the motions and muscle memory without having the stress of time. You can also develop a quality trigger press.
The second mindset is "Fast" Method. This allows the user to push their limitations with speed. The goal here is to record speed and also build the fast twitch muscle response. Some folks ONLY train in this method but quickly get frustrated, while others do not focus on speed enough.
The third mindset is called "Smooth and Fluid". This is a balance of being slow and being fast, but the focus is on building efficient connections in the sub-motions of the reload. We want each small motion to tie into the next allowing for a smooth connection throughout the entire range of motion. Nik Farooqui finds this mindset to be the most helpful in building speed and precision.

In this video, Nik Farooqui from S2 Strategic Defense uses the Mantis X-10 Shooting Performance System to diagnose the low left shooting tendencies that many shooters have trouble with.
Low Left Shooting is often caused by Trigger Finger Placement, Grip Pressure, or Trigger Slap. Nik uses the Mantis X to show you graphical data to analyze the issue so you can make adjustments for yourself if needed.
Here we see the data from the Mantis X-10 as Nik demonstrates with a total of 15 dryfire shots. 5 Shots with Too Little Trigger Finger, 5 Shots with Too Much Trigger Finger, and 5 Shots done correctly. You will be able to see the data clearly.
Nik also discusses a common misconception about the grip pressure applied to your firearm. And gives a quick tip on how to correct it.Mantis X10 Elite Review: Unboxing, Inside Look and A Chance To Win!!!

The Mantis X-10 is a revolutionary training device that connects directly to your firearm, training gun or airsoft gun. With the device connected you will get graphical analysis of your shooting performance along with the ability to track progress, tips to improve and a variety of drills to perform.
Using the Mantis X is a great way to improve your marksmanship skills through it's accelerometer and algorithms designed for shooting. The Mantis X can be used in Dryfire, CO2 or Live Fire modes which means you can use it at home, in the office, or on the range at anytime.
Dryfire training is one of the most effective ways of improving your firearms skills, but it requires a system of feedback to give you honest data, which is exactly what the Mantis X-10 provides.
Dryfire training can also be a bit boring and without direction, but the Mantis X-10 makes it fun, challenging, and gives you plenty of drills to work on.
In Live Fire mode, the Mantis X-10 will also give you the ability to record post shot information for improving Recoil Control. The Recoil Meter is a great way to learn how to have increased control of the gun with faster and more accurate follow up shots.
The Mantis X can also measure your holster draw in a detailed manner. Not just overall time, but the Holster Draw option allows you to see Time To Holster, Time To Draw, Time To First Shot and Overall Time. This allows you to see exactly what aspect of your holster draw you need to work on!
Overall, we find the Mantis X-10 to be an amazing tool for shooters of every skill level. It works flawlessly and is very simple to use. The data and feedback it provides is unlike any other device on the market. We enjoyed the Mantis X-10 so much that we reached out to the Mantis Team to get our dealer authorization, which is rare for S2 Strategic Defense. We are not retailers, we are training providers... but we found that the Mantis X-10 is a device that every shooter should have and want to bring it forward to all of our clients!ADVANCED CONCEAL CARRY LESSON: THE FAILURE/MOZAMBIQUE DRILL

This video is an excerpt from one of our Advanced Conceal Carry Courses in Elgin, IL. Here we demonstrate and explain the Failure Drill, aka Mozambique Drill.
This method of shooting is a very important skill for conceal carry holders. We address the issue of someone who is wearing body armor or may be under the influence of drugs which influence their ability to fight and more importantly how the respond to center mass hits.
It is also important to understand the shooting fundamentals that are required to perform the Failure Drill/Mozambique Drill properly. That includes:
- Grip
- Sight Package
- Trigger Control
Defensive Shooting is very much unlike target shooting. Realizing those differences is paramount to training accordingly.

In this quick video, Nik Farooqui from S2 Strategic Defense explains the basics of Force On Force Training. Force On Force Training is also known as Reality Based Training or Scenario Based Training, and is considered the highest level of training and testing firearms based skills.
Often times used in military and law enforcement training, FOF training is the "sparring" of firearms training. Started after the 1986 Miami Shootout with the FBI, force on force training has been the elite premier way to test and develop updated tactics, strategies, and to enforce fundamentals.
Although hard to find at times in the civilian market, force on force is available thru a handful of qualified individuals such as S2 Strategic Defense. Nik Farooqui and his staff has completed all of the required instructors level courses, provided proper documentation, insurance, and safety protocol to bring the highest level of training to each client whether it is law enforcement or civilian.
In this video you will see some of the training gear used including:
Glock 17T
Force On Force Marking Ammunition
MPG Safety Gear (helmet, throat protection, balaclava, and groin protection)

Welcome back to S2 Dryfire Friday! LIKE/SHARE/SUBSCRIBE
In this week's S2 Dryfire Friday, Nik Farooqui from S2 Strategic Defense will go thru diagnosis and skill building drills to help you shoot your handgun faster and more accurate. You can use a training gun like a SIRT pistol, or a laser insert of even your red dot optic. If you don't have any of those, you can still do the drills and make huge improvements in speed and accuracy! The laser feedback is just an additional layer of feedback.
The drill series will go thru:
1. Identify Natural Point Of Aim
2. Identify the Perfect Presentation
3. Identify the "Sight Zone"
4. Build Repetitions that travel thru the correct presentation plane
5. Adding Speed to the Presentation
Why is the pistol presentation so important? The presentation is the single most redundant motion or action in firearms training. We make a presentation in holster draw, multiple target engagement, surprise compressed breaks, room entry, infrastructure/floorplan navigation, barricade work and much more! And yet we often overlook the refinement of the presentation thru meaningful training.
There are a few mistakes that occur in the presentation:
1. Over excessive motion which induces disturbance at the end of the presentation
2. Misalignment of the presentation
3. Asymmetric grip pressure induced mistakes
4. Hyper-extension of the elbows
5. Loss of the front sight or red dot during presentation causing a time loss in sight picture hunting
By following the drill series shown in this video, we can correct those mistakes and develop a smooth, precise and consistent/efficient presentation which will always result in greater speed and accuracy.
Enjoy the lesson!

In this video, Nik Farooqui from S2 Strategic Defense gives a lesson on how to build a sub one-second holster draw from concealment. This is a very necessary skill for all conceal carry and self defense minded people.
In the video, Nik will first start with a few important statistics about defensive encounters that involve a firearm including FBI Statistics, Research from violent encounters caught on video, and the Tueller Drill which is training standard in firearms.
We then go into step by step process on drawing the firearm from concealment and how to make it more efficient which results in a faster holster draw. We discuss options in defeating the garment, how to grip the firearm, drawing the firearm and making a quality presentation for fast and accurate hits on target.
We will use the Mantis X10 Shooting Performance System to help us get analysis on the holster draw to see where we can make improvements. Nik will discuss how the Mantis X10 is reviewed to get optimal performance.
Nik also displays a common problem with how slowly people often press the trigger and how to achieve an effective hit on target, faster.
The video will then show Nik demonstrating sub one second holster draws from concealment repeatedly. You will see how making these changes as describe will help you with a faster holster draw from concealment.
